# Relationship mirror spread

Relationships · 6 positions

Six positions place two perspectives side by side. They organise reflection on perceptions, the relationship and hopes for its direction.

Numbers identify positions; the reading sequence is explained below. Other versions may assign different roles.

## Version and dealing convention

The numbered diagram defines this version. Other traditions may place or name positions differently. The practice uses consecutive random draws from the displayed deck scope.

## A question to try

How do I see this relationship, and what should we discuss directly?

## Before you draw

- Write one open question and define its scope. Keep factual questions separate from symbolic reflection.

- Choose the position order and decide whether to include reversals before drawing.

- Read each card in its role, then compare the positions. Note uncertainty and one practical next question.

## Position guide

### 1. My view of the other person

Describe your impression and distinguish it from observed behaviour.

### 2. The other perspective

Treat this card as a question about how you might be perceived, not as access to another mind.

### 3. My view of the relationship

Name the pattern you currently experience.

### 4. A perspective to check

Form a respectful question about the relationship to ask the other person.

### 5. My hopes

Reflect on what you would like to develop and whether you have expressed it.

### 6. Shared direction to discuss

Identify a topic for discussing future expectations without assuming agreement.

## How to connect the positions

Reading sequence (read grouped roles together as explained below): 1 → 2 → 3 → 4 → 5 → 6

Read the cards in pairs: 1 with 2, 3 with 4, and 5 with 6. Notice where your own story is filling gaps in the other perspective. Turn each pair into one open question that allows the other person to disagree.

## What to watch for

A spread cannot establish consent, loyalty or another person’s feelings. Direct communication and boundaries take priority.
